It was the first time experience for the young youth like me who got a chance to join the first youth engagement summit in Kular Lumpur.
It started when one of my friends told to sign up for a chance to win a trip to Kular Lumpur. I was feeling kinda astonish about how I can win that trip. After that, I signed up and answer the three simple questions about personal change, community change, and campaign that I would support.
I was very keen on experiencing new ideas and new environment; therefore, I followed more steps to increase a chance to win.
There, thing goes on and amazingly, I received an email from Audrone asking me about some details of my profile including passport number. I couldn't believe myself, I was one of the winners from Cambodia who would be representing my country to join the summit and learn new things.
On 15th November 2009, I started my journey by AirAsia with other delegates from Cambodia to Kular Lumpur where the summit took place. I'd love to mention their names as well, all YES ambassadors :). Those delegates are:

The first time we arrived at KLCC Terminals, we saw the sign allowing us to recognize "YES2009 Team" who came to pick us to the bus and straight to the Malaya hotel.
Day ONE started (16th November), I was so excited to join the summit and couldn't wait to see the famous business leaders to give speeches.
It was welcomed by Ms. Lorraine Hahn, a famous talk-show host. Frankly speaking, I love the way she held the summit, she is my role model.
Later, there were some speakers to open the summit and open the address to the summit such as Khailee Ng ( Director of Youth Communities for YES2009), Harmandar Singh(Organizing Chairman). Harmandar Singh stated the HOPE and CHANGE addressed by President Obama. Everyone must have hope.
Biz Stone, the co-founder of Twitter, afterward, rocked the stage. Biz stone said that opportunity can be manufactured. So people, need to thrive for the opportunity and grab it in hand in order to success. He also continued that "Creativity is a renewable source and there is no end of creating idea." He believed that Twitter can be the means to spread and deliver essential information to the world and it can be used urgently. We engage by responding.
Dr. Mamphela Ramphele- Former MD of World Bank, VC, Cape Town University gave a speech and advice to the younger generation. She talked about Ethics and Morality in changing.
In the same day, I was very impressed by one of the KEY Speakers during the summit. That was SIR BOB GELDOF, the founder of Live8. His speech was excellent, his advice was truly wonderful and his story was unbelievably touching. :) I love this speaker the most. He talked about Cooperation rather than Competition. He wanted to engage people to work hand in hand to save the world. I desperately wish to open an organization to help those people who need helps as he had done. It was perfectly helpful to the society and the world.
Even more amazing, I was called as the country representative (Cambodia) to give him gift. I was so nervous to go up on the stage but at the same time, I felt truly excited and thrilled. ^^
The summit was closed after Sir Bob's speech.
DAY TWO
- Garry Kasparov, the world living legend of Chess, told the strategic and tactic used with time line innovation.
Surprisingly, DONALD TRUMP were on the tele conference.:) Wow, that part was also awesome. He gave lots of advice and I really appreciate all what he said. He advised us to "Love what we're doing" and that a quitter will never be successful. So we have to believe in ourselves, the victory that will come to us. Believe that I can do something that nobody can do, believe that never give up.. :)
Randi Zuckerberg's speech was also impressive. She is the marketing director of facebook.com.
We all were given a free flight because of "Dato' Seri Tony Ferandes" the group CEO of AirAsia. :) Would like to express gratitude for his generosity to give the youths the chance to start our journey. Tony is a funny, lovable guy. His speech was truly good with some fun that he made. He told us about how he found AirAsia, it was a long story but very interesting. I enjoyed listening to him alot during the summit:)
The last speaker was incredibly taking my attention to story of his plane crash to Chille. Nando Parrado, Andes Crash Survivor. Nobody would ever experience the same thing as him. It was truly touching and it made me hard to believe if I were in that condition. He stated the difficult life and situation that he'd got. I was so touching and strongly with emotional attached. Nando Parrado, I will always remember your story. "Miracle in the Andes."
The best part at the summit was that I enjoyed the speech from the speakers and how Ms. Lorrein Hanh conduct the summit. :) Moreover, I can socialize and make a lot of friends during the summit including people from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand.ect. The most interesting part was when I went up to the stage to represent my country to give gift to Sir Bob.^^
Anyway, I do hope that the next summit will be more well-prepared and offer some other activities for youth to engage and take real actions.
